Are you wanting to improve your bike handling skills? Do you get nervous or feel unsafe cycling in bunches or around large groups? Can you confidentially ride with one hand? Or no hands? Drink, signal and turn both ways? Are you able to ride over or through an obstacle of needed? Do you want to learn different bunch riding skills? Different ways to roll turns and ride together?
Then this session is perfect for you! It is a skills session addresses improving your bike handling skills and introducing you to bunch riding.
The first half of the class is focusing on bike handling skills like emergency breaking, improving your turning, approaching obstacles on the road (tram tracks etc), drinking and eating while on the bike, riding with one hand, riding with no hands, Small bunny hops, touching shoulders with another rider. All skills that will make you feel safer on the road.
Second half of the session we focus on bunch riding skills. We address reading other riders around you, making smart decisions in a group scenario. We cover correct etiquette, navigating traffic and correct signals to use. We also look at different kinds of ways a group can ride together.
This session will include approximately 25km of riding.
We will start in a closed traffic environment focusing on skills and drills first. Then head to a low traffic environment once riders feel comfortable. The session will run for approximately 3 hours. And the group size will be small.
