I am so excited to be sharing my baby, Tribal Cycling, with you all!
For those of you that don’t know me, I only took up cycling in my late 20’s and have loved every minute of it since!
My first event was a 24hr team mountain bike event in Forrest. I was just standing in for someone to make up a six man team. I didn’t even have a bike at the time. Someone lent me a bike a week before. It wasn’t fancy and I was definitely lacking in fitness and skills. I had one practice session on it and off I went.
It rained for the entire 24 hours and I had a blast! I met amazing people and went home exhausted and covered in mud. But I was hooked!
Since then, cycling has been many things to me. It has been my tool to stay fit and healthy. It has helped me manage my depression and anxiety. It has been my vehicle for adventure. I have cycled and mountain biked all around Victoria, Australia, Canada and even rode my bike across Africa.
Cycling is the common ground that I have used to find what I like to call ‘my tribe’. The friends I have made along the way who share my love for all things cycling. The ones who are crazy enough to get up before the sun rises so we can do the thing we love. We all dress in the strange outfits we think are so cool! But let’s be honest Lycra is still odd! Some of these friends have convinced me to try things I never knew I was capable of and sometimes they just convinced me to do silly things like cycle naked through a desert.
But overall cycling has definitely changed my world, and it is because of all my amazing experiences that I wanted more women to find their own tribe through cycling, and hopefully go on their own amazing adventures!
So join me and Tribal Cycling as we aim to support more women getting involved in our amazing sport!
I will be sharing stories from #RealRiders - stories of real, everyday women, of all ages and backgrounds, breaking the rules, not listening to the nay-sayers and chasing their dreams.
We will include reviews from our adventures in different parts of the country from the saddles of our road and mountain bikes, such as where to ride, sleep, eat and just have some good old plain fun!
Advice from some amazing women I am lucky enough to know. These women are leaders in their field. They are passionate about what they do and share the same values as myself! They will be sharing their ‘superpowers’ with us, educating us and hopefully together we can support the growth of women’s cycling.
We have some amazing content and events lined up for anyone who is part of our tribe! We are planning some #AdventureDays on both road and mountain bikes that will kick off this summer.
We will be sharing tips on training, from beginner to advanced advice, some tips and tricks for riding, racing and everything in between.
I am also very excited to be launching some fun women’s products very soon. At Tribal Cycling, we will be donating a portion of every sale towards supporting a women's cycling initiative, cyclist or program. The best part of this is that YOU, the cycling community gets to help us decide who or what we support! You get to nominate! And every couple of months we will support a different individual or initiative.
Know an athlete, individual, or initiative that deserves some recognition and support? Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
So, welcome to our tribe! I’m looking forward to sharing this adventure with you!
